Turkish Airlines, Google Partner on ‘Find Hub’ Feature to Improve Baggage Tracking

LAGOS/Nigeria: Turkish Airlines has announced a partnership with Google as a launch partner for its new Find Hub “Share Item Location” feature aimed at improving travel experiences and enhancing the recovery process for misplaced or delayed luggage.

The airline disclosed this in a statement issued by its management on Wednesday in Lagos, noting that it now accepts Find Hub-generated location links as part of its official baggage recovery procedure.

According to the airline, the initiative will enable faster and more efficient resolution for passengers whose luggage may be misplaced or delayed during travel.

Turkish Airlines explained that passengers travelling with a Find Hub-compatible tracker tag or network accessory attached to their baggage can generate a secure location link directly from the Find Hub application.

The airline said the location link can then be shared with a Turkish Airlines baggage representative, providing its operational teams with precise location information needed to quickly trace and return missing luggage.

It stated that passengers simply need to open the Find Hub app, select the missing item and tap the “Share Item Location” option to generate a unique and secure URL.

“This link can then be provided to a Turkish Airlines representative, who will be able to view the item’s location as it updates,” the airline said.

The airline further explained that passengers remain in full control of the sharing process, adding that the location-sharing feature can be stopped at any time from within the app.

“Links automatically expire after seven days, and sharing is disabled automatically once the item is detected back with its owner. All location data is encrypted, ensuring that passenger privacy is protected at every step,” the airline added.

Turkish Airlines Vice President for Ground Operations, Mehmet Yıldırım, said the airline continues to invest in innovative and data-driven digital solutions to enhance the overall travel experience for its passengers.

“By integrating innovative technologies such as Google’s Find Hub, we are delighted to be among the first global carriers to offer passengers enhanced baggage tracking and recovery capabilities.

“This delivers a faster, more seamless and more reassuring experience across our network of over 350 destinations worldwide,” Yıldırım said.

He added that the collaboration reflects Turkish Airlines’ passenger-first approach and its commitment to adopting best-in-class technology in its operations.

Also speaking on the partnership, Google’s Vice President of Engineering, Erik Kay, described Find Hub as a unique experience designed to help Android users easily locate lost or misplaced items.

“Thanks to our open ecosystem that gives people the freedom of choice and a crowdsourced network of over a billion devices to help find your lost or misplaced items and devices no matter where they are.

“We are proud to work with partners to help make finding your belongings simple and seamless on Android,” Kay said.
