ASABA/Nigeria: The Technical Committee on Anioma State Creation has endorsed Senator Ned Munir Nwoko for a second term as the Senator representing Delta North Senatorial District in the 2027 general elections, citing his pivotal role in advancing the long-standing agitation for the creation of Anioma State.
In a statement issued by the Director-General of the Committee Secretariat, Ogbueshi Godfrey Odogwu, the committee said the endorsement was a carefully considered decision rooted in Senator Nwoko’s legislative commitment to the Anioma cause and his broader contributions to national and constituency development.
The committee noted that the struggle for Anioma State has spanned generations and political transitions, adding that the quest has endured years of advocacy, negotiations and resilience. According to the committee, the aspiration is now closer to constitutional realization than at any other time in its history.
It stated that the current progress recorded in the Anioma State agitation was not accidental but the result of deliberate legislative engagement, strategic advocacy and sustained political commitment.
The committee emphasized that Senator Nwoko’s efforts at institutionalising the Anioma State creation process at the highest legislative level marked a turning point in the long campaign for the proposed state.
According to the statement, while many leaders in the past passionately advocated for the creation of Anioma State, Senator Nwoko distinguished himself by advancing the process through the rigorous constitutional amendment pathway in the National Assembly.
“This endorsement is not a ceremonial gesture but a reasoned position,” the committee said, adding that the senator’s legislative work has demonstrated both national relevance and constituency impact.
The committee highlighted that beyond the Anioma State agenda, Senator Nwoko’s legislative interventions have covered key national issues including constitutional reform, fiscal federalism, youth empowerment, healthcare access, security restructuring, diaspora inclusion, agricultural modernisation, mining reforms, social security architecture and public sector accountability.
It further noted that his representation of Delta North has translated into tangible development initiatives across the nine local government areas of the senatorial district.
These interventions, according to the committee, include water supply projects, irrigation schemes, rural road construction, renovation of schools, medical outreach programmes, empowerment initiatives, solar electrification projects and agricultural mechanisation support.
The committee stressed that leadership should not only be measured by the number of projects delivered but also by the clarity of vision and the courage to address structural inequities within the federation.
It added that the pursuit of Anioma State requires continuity, noting that constitutional alteration processes demand persistence, negotiation, cross-regional consensus building and institutional memory.
According to the committee, any disruption in representation at this critical stage could slow down the progress already made in advancing the Anioma State proposal.
“Our endorsement is anchored on three imperatives: the continuity of the Anioma State creation process, consolidation of developmental interventions across Delta North, and sustained legislative activism on issues of national restructuring and socio-economic reform,” the statement said.
The committee expressed confidence that Senator Nwoko possesses the intellectual preparation, political stamina and legislative experience required to continue advancing the interests of Delta North in the Senate.
It therefore called on the people of Delta North Senatorial District, stakeholders across Anioma land and supporters of structural justice and development to support Senator Nwoko’s bid for a second term in the 2027 general elections.
“The moment is strategic and the mandate must be sustained,” the committee stated.
