KWALE/Nigeria: Delta State Deputy Governor, Sir Monday Onyeme, has called on Deltans to sustain the massive turnout witnessed during the All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial primaries and replicate it during the 2027 general elections.

Onyeme, who expressed delight over the large turnout of party members despite Governor Sheriff Oborevwori emerging as the sole aspirant in the governorship primary, said the development was a clear indication that Deltans were satisfied with the administration.

Speaking after the exercise on Thursday, the Deputy Governor said the turnout across the state reflected growing support for the governor and the APC.

“We just concluded the gubernatorial primary election of the APC in our state and I am very happy with the turnout.

“From what we just witnessed this morning in my ward and I believe that is what has been replicated across the state, it is evident that Deltans, and my people of Onicha-Ukwuani in particular, are in love with the administration of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori,” he said.

Onyeme maintained that the turnout of APC members was a strong signal ahead of the 2027 elections.

“With this massive turnout of members of the APC, especially in my Ward, we shall witness victory in the general elections, as this clearly shows that Deltans are for the APC,” he stated.

The Deputy Governor specifically commended the people of Onicha-Ukwuani for what he described as their unity and support for the governor.

“My people of Onicha-Ukwuani, thank you for proving that Onicha-Ukwuani speaks with one voice.

“Today, you have proven that we trust and believe in our working Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori,” he added.

He also appreciated party members for their participation in previous elections and urged them to maintain the momentum.

“We are happy with the way you have been coming out to vote, from the House of Representatives, Senate and House of Assembly to this massive turnout.

“Remember to come out like this again on Saturday to vote for the return of our President, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu,” Onyeme said.

He thanked supporters for backing the APC, describing it as a party committed to delivering more development to the people.

Meanwhile, Returning Officer for the exercise, Mr. Great Chika Omulu, disclosed that voting in Onicha-Ukwuani Ward 5, conducted through the Option A4 system, recorded 3,157 votes at the close of the exercise at 11:58 a.m.
