NUJ Pointer Chapel Commends Restructuring of DPPC Editorial Team

ASABA/Nigeria: The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), represented by its Pointer Chapel, has thrown its weight behind the Delta Printing and Publishing Corporation’s (DPPC) recent overhaul of its Editorial Team, signaling a pivotal moment in the corporation’s journey.

In an official communication addressed to Dr. Ebenezer Okorodudu, Chairman of the DPPC Board, Comrade Rosemary Nwaebuni, Chairperson of NUJ, expressed gratitude for the proactive steps taken by the board. The restructuring, designed to realign the editorial team with the evolving media landscape, has garnered widespread support from both internal staff and external stakeholders.

Nwaebuni commended the board’s dedication in ensuring the editorial team is equipped to navigate the dynamic challenges of the industry, underscoring the significance of the corporation’s commitment to professionalism and excellence.

The endorsement, conveyed in a letter dated April 24, 2024, highlights the union’s belief that the reshuffle will significantly contribute to the corporation’s success and its ability to uphold core values while adapting to industry changes. The NUJ members pledged continued cooperation and collaboration in achieving the corporation’s mandate.

The restructuring, approved by the DPPC Board, saw commendable individuals retained in their positions while others were assigned new responsibilities based on their performance and expertise. Among the notable changes, Mrs. Chibuzor Isichei continues her role as Deputy General Manager (DGM) and Head of Department (HOD) Editorial, alongside Mrs. Henrietta Oyakhilome, who assumes the role of Deputy General Manager (DGM) Editorial.

Further adjustments include Mr. Tony Eke retaining his position as Chairman of the Editorial Board, while Mr. Patrick Nwanze steps into the role of Editor-in-Chief, bringing a wealth of experience to oversee all editorial responsibilities.

Mrs. Edna Emeni takes on the mantle of Editor (Daily), backed by her tenure as Deputy Editor (Daily), while Mr. Etu Moses assumes the position of Deputy Group Sports Editor, fresh from his role as Chairman of Warri Wolves Football Club and former aide to Governor Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa.

The Acting General Manager, Mr. Godfrey Ubaka, congratulated the new team, describing them as “tested and trusted.” He articulated a vision of revitalizing The Pointer Newspapers in content and circulation, aiming to make it a source of pride for the Delta State Government and stakeholders alike.

The NUJ Pointer Chapel’s endorsement reflects a vote of confidence in DPPC’s strategic direction, setting the stage for enhanced editorial excellence and industry relevance.
