ABUJA/Nigeria: The Publisher of Beam News Magazine and President of the Citizens Quest for Truth Initiative, Chief Christie Obiaruko Ndukwe, has suggested that the recent assassination attempt on Lieutenant Yerima in Abuja may have been orchestrated by political foes seeking to implicate the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.

Reacting to the incident in a Facebook post, Chief Obiaruko drew an analogy from a campus story, explaining how rival groups may attempt to harm an individual in order to frame another. She argued that a similar motive could be at play in the attempt on Lt. Yerima’s life, days after his widely publicised encounter with the FCT Minister.

She recalled: “A student from a particular fraternity had issues with a lecturer who caught him in exam malpractice. He was made to sign an undertaking that nothing would happen to the lecturer—and that was when his problem began. His rival group could attack the lecturer just to rope him in. He lived in fear until he graduated.”

According to her, the viral confrontation between Lt. Yerima and the minister—during which the young officer firmly but politely insisted on following the orders of a superior three-star General—may have made him a target for individuals hoping to deepen the controversies surrounding Wike.

“It was expected!” she wrote. “The Minister is in the eye of the storm—the PDP crisis, the Abuja land controversies, and a long list of political foes. Someone thinking like the rival frat group MAY have chosen to do the dirty work and let it rub off on Wike, especially with the public perception some people already have of him.”

Obiaruko insisted that despite his reputation as a strong-willed politician, Wike would never orchestrate harm against Lt. Yerima. “I know Wike very well, even more than those who claim to be close to him. He would never do anything stupid like attempting to take Lt. Yerima out. He would rather avoid a faceoff with the Army or resolve the matter with the retired Naval Chief,” she said.

She, however, suggested that Wike’s misstep was failing to publicly apologise after the incident. “Maybe, just maybe, if he had tendered a public apology to the President and Commander-in-Chief, the Military, and Nigerians, his traducers and rivals may not have attempted to take out Yerima. Sometimes in leadership, wisdom has to prevail over impulse and retreat over ego.”

Chief Obiaruko concluded by urging deeper reflection over the matter, warning that political tensions should not escalate to deadly levels. “I still maintain: Dead men have no right!” she declared.
