Ndokwa/Ukwuani: Former Lawmaker’s Camp Dismisses Protest Plot Allegation Against Ezechi

Hon. Nnamdi Ezechi, incumbent Member Representing, the Ndokwa/Ukwuani Federal Constituency

KWALE/Nigeria: The media team of a former member representing Ndokwa/Ukwuani Federal Constituency has dismissed as “baseless and misleading” allegations by the incumbent lawmaker, Hon. Nnamdi Ezechi, that his predecessor is plotting to sponsor protests against him, urging the public to disregard the claim.

In a statement reacting to a publication on an Online News Platform,  and across social media platforms, the former lawmaker’s camp said the allegation does not reflect reality, stressing that it was necessary to respond in order to set the record straight and prevent misinformation among constituents.

The statement described the former representative as a seasoned democrat who served the constituency for three consecutive terms in the House of Representatives with distinction, noting that throughout his public life, he had maintained a reputation for peace, civility and constructive engagement. It insisted that at no time had he sponsored protests or engaged in actions capable of disrupting the peace of the constituency.

According to the media team, the former lawmaker firmly believes that politics should not be reduced to bitterness, blackmail or unnecessary tension, adding that his relationship with the people of Ndokwa/Ukwuani has always been anchored on dialogue, democratic participation and respect for the rule of law.

It further stated that the growing calls by constituents, including community leaders, women, youths and other stakeholders, urging the former member to contest again in 2027 were spontaneous expressions of goodwill based on his record of representation, accessibility and constituency development. The statement warned against interpreting such calls as part of any conspiracy or attempt to create a political adversary.

The media team also faulted the incumbent lawmaker for what it described as an attempt to manufacture allegations instead of focusing on service delivery, noting that no evidence had been presented to support the claims.

Reaffirming the former lawmaker’s commitment to peace and issue-based politics, the statement stressed that he has neither planned nor undertaken any action capable of causing disaffection, threatening the peace and security of Ndokwa land, or heating up the polity.

It added that the former representative had urged security agencies to monitor the situation closely, warning that the allegation by Hon. Ezechi could be a pretext for actions capable of undermining peace in the constituency.

The statement maintained that the former lawmaker would continue to engage widely with constituents, allowing them to freely express their democratic preferences without intimidation.

It therefore called on the public to disregard what it termed “unfounded allegations,” while urging political actors in the constituency to exercise restraint, responsibility and respect for the peace and unity of Ndokwa/Ukwuani.

“The people of Ndokwa/Ukwuani deserve politics of development, unity and progress — not politics of suspicion and false accusations,” the statement concluded.
