EFFURUN/Nigeria: Daily Report Nigeria has taken a major leap in its evolution as a media organisation with the inauguration of a state-of-the-art broadcast studio, signalling its transformation from a digital newspaper into a fully integrated multimedia and broadcast platform.

The landmark facility, unveiled on Thursday in Effurun, Delta State, marks a significant milestone in the organisation’s six-year journey and underscores its commitment to embracing innovation while upholding the values of credible, accurate and responsible journalism.

Speaking at the inauguration, the Managing Director, Chief Executive Officer and Editor-in-Chief of Daily Report Nigeria, Tare Magbei, described the commissioning of the broadcast studio as the beginning of a new era for the organisation, saying it reflects a bold vision to redefine digital journalism in Nigeria through technology-driven storytelling and audience-focused content.

“We are not merely unveiling a studio; we are opening a new chapter in a journey that began six years ago with a simple vision—to build a media platform that informs, educates, entertains and connects Nigerians through credible journalism and responsible storytelling,” Magbei said.

He recalled that Daily Report Nigeria was established in 2020 as an online newspaper but has since grown into one of Nigeria’s fastest-expanding digital media platforms, attracting more than 370,000 followers and subscribers across Facebook, WhatsApp, YouTube and Telegram. According to him, the organisation currently records between six and 10 million monthly content views, a testament to the confidence reposed in its editorial integrity and commitment to factual reporting.

Magbei attributed the platform’s rapid growth to the trust of its audience, noting that every reader, viewer and subscriber represents a vote of confidence in the organisation’s unwavering commitment to accuracy, fairness and impactful journalism. He stressed that the changing media landscape, driven by artificial intelligence, digital broadcasting, mobile technology and evolving audience behaviour, demands continuous innovation without sacrificing professional ethics.

“The future belongs to media organisations that successfully combine technology with trust, innovation with responsibility, and speed with accuracy,” he stated.

According to him, the newly commissioned studio will serve as the production hub for a wide range of multimedia content, including live interviews, news analysis, current affairs programmes, documentaries, podcasts, election coverage, investigative reports, sports programmes and community-focused broadcasts. He disclosed that flagship productions such as The Conversation, Daybreak Express, Nigerians Talk, Foreground and Sportspedia will now be produced with enhanced technical quality and expanded audience reach.

Magbei also unveiled the organisation’s ambitious growth strategy, announcing plans to increase its monthly digital audience to over 10 million by the third quarter of the year and surpass 20 million before the end of the fourth quarter. He said the organisation would intensify investment in video journalism, data journalism, visual storytelling, podcasting, digital engagement technologies and a nationwide reporting network as part of its long-term vision of becoming one of Africa’s most trusted multimedia news organisations.

Calling for stronger partnerships across sectors, the Daily Report Nigeria CEO urged governments, policymakers, corporate organisations, development partners, civil society groups, traditional institutions, educational establishments and technology innovators to work closely with the media in promoting informed public discourse and national development. He said such collaboration is essential to combating misinformation and disinformation while strengthening democratic governance and civic participation.

Expressing appreciation to members of staff, correspondents, contributors, advertisers, development partners and the organisation’s growing audience, Magbei described the launch of the broadcast studio as the foundation for a bigger future. “Six years ago, Daily Report Nigeria began as a digital newspaper driven by a vision. Today, we have inaugurated a broadcast studio driven by a mission. Tomorrow, with the continued support of our partners and audience, we will build a multimedia institution that informs, inspires and impacts millions of lives across Nigeria and beyond,” he said.
