Dr. Okoh told the people that the disease is new, and for now no known treatment for it, but they have to be health conscious, by always reporting to any approved health centre when they are sick, and also by frequent washing of their hands with soap, avoiding the eating of bats, and, fruits eating by bats and eating of monkeys.
He told the people “the easiest way to contact the disease is coming in contact with all form of body fluids of infected persons and contact with dead body of an Ebola Virus Disease Victim”.
He therefore encouraged the people to always be vigilant, and report to any trained health officer once they notice “changes in their body, like fever, vomiting of blood, spots and rashes appearing on their skin which may be sign of an Ebola infection”. He said.
Commenting on the health services of the group, the Matron of the Ossissa Primary Health Centre, Mrs Gloria Imana thanked the AGHCS members, as the service was made available at the time when the doctors are not present at hospitals because of the on going strike to attend to those who are in need of serious medical attention.
One of the beneficiaries, Chief Stephen Ogwu commended the medical team and called for support from well meaning individuals in the society to support the group.
At the free Health Care programme of the group at Ossissa, more than one hundred and fifty persons were attended to.
