Governor Rt. Hon. Elder Sheriff Oborevwori

ASABA/Nigeria: Delta State Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Mr. Charles Aniagwu, has welcomed Governor Sheriff Oborevwori to Agbor, describing him as a “bridge-builder” whose leadership is fostering unity and accelerating sustainable development across the state.

In a statement issued on Monday ahead of the flag-off ceremony of the N59.7 billion Uromi Junction Flyover in Agbor, Ika South Local Government Area, Aniagwu said the project was another clear demonstration of the governor’s unwavering commitment to people-centred governance and purposeful infrastructure delivery.

“The Uromi Junction Flyover is a powerful symbol of Governor Oborevwori’s resolve to confront traffic congestion, enhance urban mobility and improve the quality of life of our people,” Aniagwu said. “It reflects a leadership style that prioritises practical solutions and long-term benefits for present and future generations.”

He noted that the Agbor project, alongside the Otovwodo Junction Flyover in Ughelli and the three others nearing completion at PTI Junction, DSC Roundabout and Enerhen Junction, underscored the administration’s determination to modernise critical urban infrastructure across major cities in Delta State.

According to him, the Uromi Junction Flyover will significantly ease traffic flow, improve road safety and stimulate economic activities within the Agbor metropolis and adjoining communities, while also strengthening inter-state connectivity between Delta State and its neighbouring states.

“The economic and social impact of this flyover will be far-reaching,” Aniagwu said. “It will open up Agbor for increased commercial activities, reduce travel time and vehicle operating costs, and further integrate Delta State with surrounding states in terms of trade and mobility.”

Speaking on behalf of the people of Ika Nation, the commissioner expressed profound appreciation to Governor Oborevwori for siting what he described as a landmark project in Agbor, noting that it marked a historic intervention that would deliver enduring socio-economic dividends.

“We are deeply grateful to His Excellency for this historic project. The people of Ika Nation see this as a bold statement of inclusion, development and responsive leadership,” he said.

Aniagwu assured residents that the flyover would be executed in line with the highest engineering and safety standards, with strict supervision to guarantee quality delivery and timely completion.

He added that the Uromi Junction Flyover forms part of Governor Oborevwori’s broader infrastructure expansion programme under the MORE Agenda, which is focused on improving urban mobility, strengthening connectivity and enhancing the overall quality of life for Deltans.

“Governor Oborevwori has continued to prove that infrastructure is the backbone of development,” Aniagwu said. “Through the MORE Agenda, he is laying a solid foundation for a more prosperous, connected and livable Delta State.”
