KOKORI/Nigeria: Leaders and members of the All Progressives Congress in Kokori gathered in a charged atmosphere of celebration and political resolve as the party held its Ward 6 Congress, an event stakeholders described as both a unifying exercise and an early signal of preparations for the 2027 general elections.

Chairman of the Congress Committee, James Omeru, congratulated Sunday Agbogun Efegoma on his emergence as Ward Chairman alongside newly elected executives, urging them to foster unity, avoid factionalism and provide purposeful leadership. He said the congress was more than an internal process, describing it as a strategic gathering designed to consolidate party strength ahead of future electoral contests.

Omeru declared that the ward’s political machinery must now intensify mobilisation efforts to secure victories for Bola Tinubu, Sheriff Oborevwori and other APC candidates that will emerge through party primaries. He praised Oborevwori as a visionary leader whose developmental strides across sectors, he said, position him favourably for re-election.

He also commended the ward’s political leader, G. S. Avwunudiogba, for what he described as pragmatic leadership that ensured a peaceful and successful congress.

Former federal lawmaker Sunny Akpodiogaga Emeyese told party faithful that Ward 6 was ready to deliver a “5/5” electoral victory for all APC candidates in 2027, urging the new executives to begin work immediately to meet public expectations.

The gathering applauded Omeru for an empowerment initiative that reportedly disbursed over ₦45 million to grassroots beneficiaries across the ward. According to organisers, five youths and two women per unit received ₦200,000 each through direct bank transfers, a move party leaders said had boosted morale and grassroots confidence.

Secretary of the Congress Committee, Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, said the empowerment programme reflects a results-driven leadership style that has strengthened unity and political engagement within the ward. He added that the initiative has positioned Ward 6 as a mobilised base with a clear strategy of linking grassroots prosperity to electoral success.

Other stakeholders, including former Ethiope East Local Government Area chairman Faith Majemite and community leader Sunday Omovie, praised the conduct of the congress, describing it as orderly, transparent and reflective of internal democracy.

In a symbolic political resolution, the ward passed a vote of confidence in Tinubu and Oborevwori, endorsing them as sole presidential and governorship candidates respectively for 2027. Party officials noted that proceedings were monitored by representatives of the Independent National Electoral Commission in compliance with electoral regulations, lending institutional credibility to the exercise.
