Delta State Government Partners with National Population Commission for 2023 Demographic and Health Survey

ASABA/Nigeria: The Delta State Government has joined forces with the National Population Commission to initiate the 2023 Nigeria Demographic and Health Survey (NDHS) within its borders.

According to a statement released by the State Director of Public Communication, Mrs. Theresa Oliko, the primary aim of the survey is to “generate high quality data on health, nutritional status and the general well-being of citizens for national planning and development.”

Fieldwork for the comprehensive survey commenced on December 4, 2023, and is slated to continue until May 2024. To ensure comprehensive coverage, twenty-two local government areas have been carefully selected and demarcated into various enumeration areas for the smooth execution of the exercise.

In urging cooperation from residents, the statement emphasized the critical role citizens play in the success of the survey. It called upon them to actively engage with local government Controllers of the National Population Commission and surveyors. Participation in the survey, it underscored, is crucial as it provides the necessary demographic data vital for effective planning and development strategies within the state.

This collaborative effort between the Delta State Government and the National Population Commission reflects a commitment to evidence-based policymaking, ensuring that resources are allocated efficiently to address the needs of the population.
