ABUJA/Nigeria: As Muslims across Nigeria and the world mark Eid-el-Fitr, Senator Ned Munir Nwoko has called on citizens to reflect on the deeper significance of the season by sustaining the virtues of faith, humility and compassion cultivated during Ramadan.

In a message to commemorate the festival, the lawmaker congratulated Muslim faithful on the successful completion of the fasting period, describing Ramadan as a spiritually enriching season marked by sacrifice, discipline and devotion to Almighty Allah.

Nwoko expressed gratitude for the strength and grace granted to adherents of Islam to observe the sacred rites, noting that the period underscores the importance of patience, self-restraint and unwavering faith.

“I give thanks to Almighty Allah for granting us the strength, patience and grace to complete the sacred month of Ramadan,” he said, commending the resilience demonstrated throughout the period of fasting and prayer.

He stressed that Eid-el-Fitr should not be viewed merely as a time of celebration, but as a moment of sober reflection on shared responsibilities toward humanity and the nation at large.

The senator maintained that the lessons of Ramadan—anchored on generosity, unity and humility—must continue to guide individual actions and collective aspirations beyond the festive season.

“Eid is not merely a celebration; it is a call to sustain the enduring values of faith, humility, generosity and unity,” Nwoko stated. “These principles must continue to guide our actions as we strive to build a more peaceful, inclusive and prosperous nation.”

He further urged Nigerians, irrespective of religious or ethnic affiliations, to embrace tolerance, mutual respect and compassion, especially towards the vulnerable in society.

Highlighting the need for national cohesion, Nwoko emphasized that unity remains a critical pillar for sustainable development and peaceful coexistence, calling on citizens to work together in pursuit of the common good.

The lawmaker also encouraged Nigerians to use the occasion of Eid to offer prayers for the peace, security and progress of the country, expressing confidence that Nigeria’s challenges can be surmounted through collective resolve and faith.

“With unity, resilience and faith, we will overcome our challenges and realise a brighter future for all,” he affirmed.

Nwoko concluded by wishing Muslims and their families a fulfilling Eid celebration, praying that the season brings joy, renewed hope and abundant blessings.

Eid-el-Fitr is celebrated by Muslims worldwide as the culmination of Ramadan, a month dedicated to fasting, prayer and acts of charity.
