
ASABA/Nigeria: Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, has expressed delight over the elevation of two of his constituents, Justice Jereoma Sam-Oligida and Justice Irene Boeye Ukuli, to the High Court Bench of Delta State.
The two jurists were among six newly appointed judges sworn in by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori during a ceremony held at the Unity Hall of Government House, Asaba, where they took their oaths of office and pledged to uphold justice, integrity and impartiality in the service of the people of Delta State.
In a congratulatory message, Guwor described the appointments as well-deserved and a source of immense pride, both personally and for Delta State at large. He said the elevation of Justices Sam-Oligida and Ukuli reflects their years of dedication to justice and public service.
“I am proud of my constituents’ elevation to the esteemed position of High Court judges. Their dedication to justice and public service is a testament to their character, competence and professional excellence,” the Speaker said.
In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Nkem Nwaeke, Guwor commended the newly sworn-in judges for distinguishing themselves through integrity, discipline and unwavering commitment to the rule of law, noting that their appointments were a fitting recognition of their contributions to the legal profession.
He charged the judges to remain steadfast in upholding fairness, equity and the sanctity of the Constitution, describing their new positions as a sacred trust.
“Your new role is a sacred trust. Uphold the dignity of the judiciary and serve as beacons of hope for the people,” Guwor urged.
The Speaker described their elevation to the Bench as historic, stressing that it represents not only a personal milestone for the judges but also a moment of collective pride for Delta State and the legal community.
“The new judges have distinguished themselves over the years through unwavering commitment to the rule of law, professional excellence and impeccable integrity—qualities that earned them the confidence of the appointing authorities and the admiration of the legal community,” he stated.
According to Guwor, their elevation to the High Court Bench is a testament to years of hard work, intellectual depth and steadfast devotion to justice, reaffirming the principle that merit and character remain central to public service.
He further urged the judges to see their appointments as a deeper call to service to humanity, encouraging them to dispense justice without fear or favour and to strengthen public confidence in the judiciary.
Guwor expressed confidence that their tenure on the Bench would contribute meaningfully to the strengthening of the justice system, the promotion of peace and equity, and the advancement of good governance in Delta State.
He concluded by wishing the new judges divine wisdom, sound health and enduring courage as they assume their noble responsibilities, assuring them of the prayers and goodwill of the Delta State House of Assembly.
