Maritime Security Agency Appoints Mayor Akpodoro Patron

LAGOS/Nigeria: The Mayor of Urhoboland and an ex-militant leader in the Niger Delta region, His Excellency Eshanakpe Israel a.k.a Akpodoro has been appointed the Patron of the Maritime Security Agency, MASECA of Nigeria.

This was contained in a letter dated 26 April  2024 to the Mayor signed by the Ag DG of the agency, Cdr Manu D Yagdah (Rtd ) . The appointment of the Mayor according to the letter came at the heels of due diligence by the management of the organisation, the result of which culminated in his latest appointment.

MASECA noted that Mayor Akpodoro has demonstrated sufficient patriotism and solidarity for the nation in all activities, particularly on peace and security in the Niger Delta region.

Akpodoro, 48, in addition to being the Mayor of Urhoboland, is the national coordinator of the National Coalition of Delta Ex-Agitators, NCNDE-A and also the President of the Urhobo Youth Forum for Change ( UYFC) and has led the organisations in the war against crimes and criminalities in the region.

Akpodoro was he who worked with the military to defeat a renewed insurgency in the Delta region at the inception of President Muhammadu Buhari’s led administration in 2016 after helping the Office of the National Security Adviser ( ONSA) to mop up small and medium arms at the wake of the declaration of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, PAP.

“The letter reads: “I am delighted to inform you that you have been appointed as the Patron of the Maritime Security  Agency, (MASECA) of Nigeria.

“The above decision was taken to offer you this appointment at an Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) on 23 Apri 2024, held at Nelson Garden (CBD), Abuja.

Your insights, selfless sacrifice and expertise would be precious to our organisation as the Patron of MASECA.”

With His Excellency in the saddle, all is set for a relentless war against criminal elements in Nigeria’s Maritime environment and the creeks of the Niger Delta region in particular
