ASABA/Nigeria: The St. Brigid’s Old Girls’ Association, Asaba, has celebrated the 60th anniversary of the founding of St. Brigid’s Girls’ Grammar School with a four-day reunion programme held in Asaba from December 11 to 14, 2025.
The anniversary, themed “Reunion and Renewal: Celebrating Yesterday and Unboxing Tomorrow… Homecoming 2025,” brought together alumnae from different generations in a series of activities designed to honour the school’s rich heritage, strengthen alumni bonds and reaffirm commitment to the institution’s future.
The celebrations opened with a health walk, followed by an interactive engagement between alumnae and current students of the school. The session focused on mentorship, career guidance and personal development, providing students with practical insights from accomplished former students. A meet-and-greet event later in the day enabled old classmates to reconnect, while participants also benefitted from a lecture on mental health awareness.
Day two of the reunion featured a novelty football match between the 1991 set and a combined team drawn from the 1992, 1993 and 1994 sets, adding a touch of camaraderie and friendly competition to the celebrations. The day also included a courtesy visit to the Asagba of Asaba, His Royal Majesty, Prof. Epiphany Chibuogu Azinge, SAN.
The third day was devoted to the Annual General Meeting of the St. Brigid’s Old Girls’ Association. The meeting was chaired by Obi Onyemanaogaeme Chukwuemekalim Ajufoh, while Dr. (Mrs.) Minnie Oseji delivered the keynote address. Awards were presented to past principals of the school, selected alumnae who returned to serve as teachers, and deserving staff members in recognition of their dedication and contributions to the growth of the institution.
The AGM also witnessed the formal dissolution of the association’s protem executive council and the election of new officers to steer the affairs of the body for the next three years.
The anniversary activities culminated in a thanksgiving service at St. Brigid’s Catholic Church, Asaba, where gratitude was expressed for six decades of academic excellence, moral formation and community impact.
The reunion underscored the resolve of the Old Girls’ Association to sustain the legacy of St. Brigid’s Girls’ Grammar School and to continue supporting its development through mentorship, advocacy and collective action.
