ASABA/Nigeria: The Umu Ezeti Global Connect Initiative has conferred an Outstanding Service Award on Hon. Charles Emetulu, member representing Ndokwa West Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly, in recognition of his contributions to education and community development in Umuseti, Utagba-Uno.
The award was presented during a strategic courtesy visit by the delegation to the lawmaker, an engagement described as both a show of appreciation and a move to strengthen collaboration between the community and its representative. The visit, which brought together key stakeholders, also provided an opportunity for direct interaction on ongoing and future development efforts.
Presenting the award, Dr. Heelas Onah, Technical Adviser on Community Engagement and Youth Empowerment of the Initiative, commended Hon. Emetulu’s leadership and his sustained investment in educational development, particularly projects facilitated at Olieogo Umuseti Secondary School.
Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Ambassador Chuks Ododo, General Coordinator of the Initiative, praised the lawmaker for what he described as measurable transformation within the constituency, noting that the impact of his representation was both visible and verifiable.
Ododo, however, urged the legislator to ensure the completion of all ongoing projects, especially in the education sector, before the end of his tenure. “We are not certain that Ndokwa West will easily find another person with the capacity and the character to fill these shoes,” he said.
Other members of the delegation included Mr. John Ozegbe, Chief Legislative Officer of the Delta State House of Assembly, and Mr. Chika Great Omulu, APC Ward Three Secretary and Head of Operations of the Initiative.
Responding, Hon. Emetulu expressed appreciation for the recognition, describing gratitude as a critical driver of effective governance. He maintained that acknowledgement of public service efforts not only encourages elected officials but also strengthens their resolve to deliver more dividends of democracy.
“Gratitude is very important in life, even for public officers; it attracts more, and gives assurance that one contributes their best,” Emetulu stated.
The lawmaker further called on constituents to adopt a more collaborative approach in engaging elected representatives, urging communities to see legislators as partners in development rather than adversaries.
The Initiative noted that the visit underscored a model of civic engagement that combines accountability with appreciation, stressing that while progress has been acknowledged, expectations remain high for the completion of ongoing projects.
It added that the footprints of the lawmaker’s interventions across Umuseti stand as evidence of his commitment, while reaffirming the community’s resolve to sustain constructive engagement with government toward achieving lasting development.
