Anambra State 2026 Zero Discrimination Day

AWKA/Nigeria: Wife of the Anambra State Governor, Dr. Nonye Soludo, has called on Nigerians to treat one another with dignity and respect, regardless of differences in belief, social status, creed or physical condition.

Dr. Soludo, who is also the Founder of the Healthy Living Initiative, made the appeal on Sunday in Awka while commemorating the 2026 Zero Discrimination Day, observed globally every March 1 to promote equality before the law across United Nations member states.

She emphasised that genuine love must rise above prejudice and societal divisions, noting that respect remains fundamental to human dignity.

“True love sees no differences, only hearts filled with compassion and a genuine desire to make others feel loved, valued and respected. Respect is the soul of human dignity,” she said.

Condemning discriminatory attitudes, she described discrimination as “a language of barbarism and hate,” urging citizens to foster empathy and inclusiveness in their daily interactions.

“Do the best you can to always treat people with dignity, irrespective of their beliefs, class, creed or physical conditions. That’s one way to make our society a better place for all of us,” she added.

Dr. Soludo further stressed the importance of collective responsibility in building a society grounded in love, equality and mutual respect.
