The three ethnic nationalities that make up Delta South senatorial district in Delta State namely: the Ijaw, Isoko and Itsekiri commonly called the 3is have voiced their support for the gubernatorial aspiration of Olorogun David Edevbie. Chairman of the Delta South senatorial district in the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Sir Simeon Efenudu, added voice to the growing support for David Edevbie’s guber aspiration when the aspirant (David Edevbie) paid a consultation visit to the Delta South senatorial district executives at its secretariat in Okere Road, Warri; Friday, August 1.
Engr. Matthew Edevbie who led the consultation team had earlier introduced Olorogun David Edevbie as the best material, among the teeming aspirants for the governorship race on the platform of the PDP, to succeed Governor Uduaghan because “he is a man who is
acceptable to all Deltans”.
Presenting his speech, Olorogun David Edevbie said, “I have thrown my hat into the ring to contest as an aspirant for the Delta State gubernatorial election in 2015 because I am eminently qualified for the job.
“I have worked at the highest levels of the State and Federal Government and I was at the
private sector working internationally. I am the only one that has that blend of work experience”. He said Delta central senatorial district from which he hails has a natural affinity for the people of Delta South senatorial district and that attraction forms the nexus that make up the core Delta State.
He lamented that people of the core Delta are inadequately represented at the federal level where policy decisions are taken and assured that if he were to be governor; he would ensure that more people of the core Delta become active players at the federal level.
“We are never there when key decisions are taken in spite of the fact that we own the cake. If I were to be governor I will ensure that the people of the core Delta become players at the federal level. As Governor I would have the ability to do a hundred times more than what I was able to do while I served at the State and at the Federal levels” Olorogun David Edevbie summarised.
Responding, Chief Sir Simeon Efenudu said he was mesmerized by the eloquence of Olorogun David Edevbie. “You are a man of action, you have done it before and you will do it again. I pray for good health for you and all who key into this mission. I pray that there is enough money for you to run this race and carry this mission through.
“We want a round peg for a round hole and you are the one that fits into this hole. We know that if you become governor, Delta State and indeed the core Delta will become like London and may this mission be successful. I will carry this message to all stakeholders in the district”. Sir Efenude assured.
In a remark, Hon Fregene, the Delta State Assistant Secretary of the PDP and Secretary to the Delta South senatorial district of the PDP recalled the pleasant moments, contractors and all those who did business with the Delta State government had while Olorogun David Edevbie served as Commissioner of Finance.
“It was during your time that the regime of monthly cash budget existed. It was during your time that contractors enjoyed 25 percent mobilisation fund. It was after your time that things changed. Please keep up this your good spirit when you become governor” Fregene urged.
Others present during the consultation visit include : Chief Barr Jim Elueni the district’s Legal Adviser, Lady Felicia Gborgbor (State ex-officio), Andrew Igban (Youth Leader of the district),Keneakemebo Abel (Org Sec. or the district), Amah Agbajoh (PDP Chairman for Warri South), Miss Evelyn Agbro (Woman Leader for the district) and Dr Mrs Oyearone Philo. Others were: Chief Capt. Anthony Onoharigho, Chief George Ugen, Chief Patrick Okitiakpe, Hon Abel Oshevire, Hon Julius Akpovoka among others.
