ASABA/Nigeria: The Delta State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), in partnership with the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) and the Delta State Government, has scheduled a three-day capacity-building workshop to strengthen data management in the state’s basic education sector.
In a statement issued by the SUBEB Chairman, Hon. Samuel Mariere, the board said the training is part of ongoing efforts to modernise data systems and improve the quality of educational planning through the deployment of digital tools.
The workshop will focus on the use of the Basic Education Management Information System (BEMIS) App, a digital platform developed by Delta SUBEB following insights from the ongoing 2024/2025 Annual School Census in public primary schools.
The training, themed “Current Trends in Data Capture, Entry, Analysis and Reporting,” is targeted at Education Management Information System (EMIS) officers drawn from Local Government Education Authorities (LGEAs), Curriculum Implementation and Evaluation (CIE) offices, the State Ministry of Basic Education, and SUBEB headquarters.
Participants are expected to be selected from all 25 local government areas of the state, ensuring broad-based capacity enhancement across the education system.
Mariere noted that the initiative is designed to equip officers with critical skills to improve both collaborative and independent performance, with a view to ensuring timely, accurate, and reliable data for effective planning and policy formulation.
He emphasised that quality data remains central to decision-making in the education sector, adding that the training would further strengthen the state’s commitment to evidence-based governance.
According to the statement, the residential workshop will hold from April 1 to April 3, 2026, beginning at 9:00 a.m. daily.
The venue for the training is Gares Place Hotel, located along Ughelli/Patani Road in Ughelli North Local Government Area.
