BURUTU/Delta State: Former aspirant for the Burutu Federal Constituency seat under the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Thompson Robert-Fuoye, has returned to Burutu in a remarkable post-primary move to appreciate supporters and stakeholders who stood by him during his political aspiration, declaring that loyalty, gratitude and grassroots engagement remain the true foundations of leadership.
The appreciation meeting, which drew party leaders, stakeholders and members of his support network under the leadership of former Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Goddey Peter Orubebe, was seen by many as a demonstration of statesmanship and a deliberate effort to sustain unity within the APC after the conclusion of the party primaries.
Among dignitaries present at the gathering were Chairman of Delta State Maritime Polytechnic, Burutu, Chief Julius Tarabiri Government; Prime Minister of Tuomo Kingdom, High Chief Mike Loyibo, alongside party faithful and supporters from across the Burutu Federal Constituency.
Speaking during the meeting, Robert-Fuoye expressed appreciation to his supporters for their sacrifices, commitment and belief in his aspiration, insisting that political relationships should transcend election periods.
“I came back because gratitude is important. The election process may have ended, but our relationship as a political family continues. Leadership should not begin and end during campaigns; it must be sustained through continuous engagement with the people,” he said.
The former aspirant noted that the support received during the APC primary had strengthened his resolve to remain committed to grassroots politics and people-oriented leadership.
“The confidence reposed in me by our people remains one of the greatest motivations for me. Politics is about service, connection and building trust. That bond remains stronger than ever,” he added.
Robert-Fuoye also used the opportunity to appeal for reconciliation and stronger unity within the APC, urging members to remain committed to building party structures and expanding political participation across communities.
“The success of our party is a collective responsibility. We must continue to work together, support our leaders and maintain unity for the progress of our communities and the development of Burutu Federal Constituency,” he stated.
He further urged party faithful to continue supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, and other leaders of the party.
Speaking at the event, Elder Orubebe emphasized the importance of continuous political engagement and collaboration among stakeholders, while Chief Julius Tarabiri Government and High Chief Mike Loyibo stressed the need for unity and stronger grassroots participation.
The atmosphere at the gathering reflected renewed optimism as supporters commended Robert-Fuoye for returning to personally appreciate them — a gesture many described as rare in politics and a reflection of humility, loyalty and enduring connection with the people.
