
ASABA/Nigeria: The Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, has paid glowing tribute to the late former Deputy Governor of the state, Chief Benjamin Elue, describing his contributions to governance and peace-building as enduring and unforgettable.
In a condolence message on the passing of the former deputy to ex-Governor Chief James Ibori (1999–2007), the Speaker said Chief Elue’s impact on the growth and stability of Delta State would remain indelible in the state’s history.
“His contributions to governance, peace-building and community development remain evergreen in the annals of Delta State,” Guwor stated.
The message, made available to journalists by his Chief Press Secretary, Nkem Nwaeke, portrayed the late elder statesman as a patriotic Nigerian, a bridge-builder and a devoted servant of both Delta State and the nation.
Guwor noted that Chief Elue, who hailed from Obior in Aniocha North Local Government Area, exemplified loyalty, wisdom and dedication throughout his tenure as Deputy Governor, playing a key role in fostering unity and progress in the state.
The Speaker, who also chairs the Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures in Nigeria, described the late leader as a mentor whose public service was marked by humility, integrity and inclusive leadership.
“His counsel was always measured, his leadership inclusive, and his passion for the progress of Delta State unwavering. He will be remembered not only for the office he held but for the legacy of service he leaves behind,” he said.
He extended condolences to the Elue family, the Obior community and the people of Delta State, praying for strength and comfort in this period of grief.
“On behalf of the Delta State House of Assembly, I extend our heartfelt condolences to his immediate family, his community and all Deltans who share in this painful loss. May God grant his soul eternal rest and give his family the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss,” the Speaker added.
