ONNE/Nigeria: The Customs Area Controller of Port Harcourt Area II Command, Onne, Comptroller Aliyu Mohammed Alkali, has charged officers and men of the Nigeria Customs Service to maintain a positive attitude and uphold professional conduct in the discharge of their lawful duties.

Alkali gave the charge on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, while speaking at a “Reputation Management Cascade Training” organised at the Area II Command, Onne, Rivers State, where he stressed that discipline and professionalism remain the bedrock of effective service delivery in the Nigeria Customs Service.

In his remarks, the Onne Customs boss said reputation management is the collective responsibility of all officers, irrespective of cadre or rank, noting that every personnel is an ambassador of the Service and plays a vital role in shaping its public image.

“Reputation management training is designed to equip officers and men with the right attitude and professional ethical conduct that will portray the Nigeria Customs Service in a good light in the discharge of their duties,” Alkali said.

He added that the image of the Service is shaped daily by the actions, decisions and interactions of its personnel with members of the public and key stakeholders.

Alkali expressed confidence that the knowledge gained from the engagement would enhance professionalism, ethical conduct and public trust, urging participants to take the training seriously as it would further strengthen the Service’s commitment to integrity, accountability and service excellence.

While commending the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR, PhD, for facilitating the training, he described the timing as apt, saying it would yield practical and positive benefits for the officers.

The training featured presentations by resource persons drawn from the Command, including Deputy Comptroller of Customs Abbas Oladepo, Chief Superintendent of Customs Dennis Gotar and Chief Superintendent of Customs Akinwale Fatoki.

The facilitators took participants through modules from the Nigeria Customs Service Reputation Management Guide and the Service’s “Golden 7 Cs,” after which a question-and-answer session was held, allowing officers to share feedback and key takeaways.

Participants commended the training, describing it as timely and relevant to their duties.
