OKPANAM/Nigeria: The President-General of the Mountain Club of Okpanam, Patrick Okwuekwu, has described the club as a foremost organisation committed to promoting socio-economic, educational and cultural development of its members and the wider Okpanam community.
Okwuekwu made the remarks in Okpanam, Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State, during the club’s end-of-year get-together, where he said the association has, for over four decades, fostered unity, cooperation and community-driven development initiatives.
He noted that the Mountain Club, which has existed for more than 40 years, has consistently provided support for human capital development, particularly for indigent persons of Okpanam origin, while encouraging projects that advance the overall wellbeing of the community.
Earlier, a frontline member of the club and Chairman of the End-of-Year Planning Committee, Alistair Odashodiolu, charged newly inducted members to uphold the rules and values of the organisation, describing the gathering as a moment of unity and family bonding.
Odashodiolu praised members for their integrity, accessibility and reliability, commending their unwavering commitment to the growth of the club and the successful organisation of the year-end celebration.
In separate remarks, newly inducted members, including the President-General of the Okpanam Community Development Union, Robert Ogonenwe, Udoka Asoya and Christopher Okechukwu Osadi, said they joined the club because of its strong humanitarian focus and impact on community development.
Asoya said he would align with the club’s policies and programmes to further advance its objectives, while Osadi described the organisation as one that has consistently given back to society in line with its humanitarian ideals.
Ogonenwe described the Mountain Club as one of the oldest and most prominent associations in Okpanam, adding that his decision to join was strategic, given the club’s influence and the calibre of individuals it brings together in the community.
